At the core of CSS is a data warehousing and analysis operation utilizing pharmacy claims, medical claims, and medical records data supplied by the provider.
Standard data specifications and architecture have been developed so that CSS can download, for its physician clients, paid claims data from any managed care organization with whom the physician group participates. CSS assists clients arrange for regular monthly downloads of paid claims and other pertinent information.
Using these data downloads, CSS produces a monthly package of key indicator reports for the group. Reports include both a series of financial summaries, and a series of utilization summaries. The CSS reports provide physicians with an "apples-to-apples" comparison of their patients' utilization behavior, regardless of insurance type. The reports have been designed to provide physicians with a clear understanding of (1) their patients' utilization patterns; (2) their own ability to identify disease areas for improvement; and (3) the impact on the disease management interventions.
