Typically, physician groups have accepted contracts from insurers with little more on hand than an age/gender analysis of their patient population. The data warehouse built by CSS allows physicians to better understand the relative risk associated with their existing patient populations. Using more comprehensive data, physician groups can conduct contract negotiations in a more informed manner.

The CSS data warehouse can also assist physicians understand their contract settlements, and help determine whether other conditions - such as whether utilization from catastrophic or stop-loss cases -- have been removed from settlement calculations.

CSS can also use the group-specific data warehouse to create episodic or risk cohorts, as well as other ad hoc reports useful for contracting or settlement.
